Asheville has always been a maker's town — a mountain city where people still do things by hand and care how they're made. We fit right in, just down the road: Mr. & Mrs. Tallow is rendered and jarred in Fletcher, about twelve miles south of downtown, in the same Blue Ridge country. When we say local, for Asheville we mean it literally.

Mountain skin takes a beating you don't expect — humid summers, crisp dry winters, and elevation that pulls moisture out faster than the flatlands do. Tallow is the old answer to exactly that. Its fatty acids — mostly oleic, stearic, and palmitic — are close to the oil your skin already makes, so it seals the barrier and holds moisture in through the seasonal swing. Rendered from grass-fed suet, it also carries the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Small batch, the Asheville way
We render low and slow in small runs, whip it by feel, and jar it by hand — no rushed pots, no fillers, no long ingredient list. It's the least efficient way to make skincare and the only way we're interested in, and it's the same instinct that fills the tailgate markets and craft stalls around here every weekend.
